Scholarships

Scholarship Opportunities

The University of Providence offers many opportunities for students to finance their education. Scholarships are the primary source of funding for the majority of our students. Many scholarships are funded through generous gifts from donors and vary in amount and type.  Below are the different types and amounts of scholarships available to students.

The following scholarship information applies only to the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences and Traditional Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program.  All other programs within the School of Health Professions are not eligible for institutional scholarships due to a different tuition and fees structure.

Academic Merit Scholarships

The University of Providence places the highest priority on your academic achievements and has a generous scholarship program to reflect the value we place on academic performance. As part of your application to the University of Providence, new freshmen and transfer students who apply to the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences will be automatically considered for an academic merit scholarship (no additional application required). Academic merit scholarships are based on GPA.  The scholarships are renewable for four years, provided students remain in good academic standing at UP, and are enrolled full-time.

On-campus students who are eligible for the Providence employee tuition discount or Healthcare Professionals tuition incentive will receive the higher amount of either the discount or the academic merit award.

Athletic Scholarships

Athletic scholarships are determined by the coach of each individual sports team and are applied after academic merit funds are distributed. It is possible that a student athlete’s total scholarship package will consist of both an academic merit scholarship and athletic scholarship.

Students receiving 100% institutional tuition scholarships may not be eligible for additional athletic aid. Federal Pell Grants and institutional scholarships and grants plus athletic aid cannot exceed direct costs (tuition, fees, and housing/food if on campus).

Athletic scholarship amounts vary by sport, budget, team needs, and the talent of each individual student athlete. For information on athletic scholarships, please contact the individual coach.
