    Eligibility: Applicants must be residents who have lived in the District of Columbia for at least 12 months prior to the beginning of their freshman year of college. Applicants must also either plan to or be currently enrolled at least half-time in an undergraduate or certificate program.

  • District of Columbia Tuition Assistance Grant
    Deadline: August 15
    Amount: $2,500-$10,000

    Sponsor: DC Tuition Assistance Grant Office

    Eligibility: Applicants must be residents of Washington, DC for at least 12 months before the start of their freshman year of college, high school graduates or GED recipients, enrolled at least half-time at an eligible institution and be 24 years of age or younger. Applicants must maintain satisfactory academic progress, not have defaulted on student loans, have registered with the Selective Service, be U.S. citizens or permanent residents, have not already received a B.A. or B.S. and have not been incarcerated. The award provides up to $10,000 a year for the difference between in-state and out-of-state tuition at public four year institutions in the U.S. and up to $2,500 per year for private colleges in DC, private Historically Black Colleges and Universities or two-year colleges nationwide.

  • James and Mary Dawson and Donald Malcolm MacArthur Scholarship

    Eligibility: Applicants must be enrolled in their third or fourth year at a U.S. or Scottish institution or be full-time graduate students. Students must be of Scottish birth or descent or U.S. citizens who maintain permanent residence in the District of Columbia, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, North Carolina, West Virginia, Pennsylvania or Virginia. Selection is based on academic achievement, financial need and overall strength of the application.
